As a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, NEW JOBS promotes a probusiness climate in New Jersey by endorsing and supporting legislative candidates who actively support economic growth, the creation of private-sector jobs, and the lowering of business costs. Endorsements are made by a diverse group of New Jersey employers who serve on the organization’s Board of Trustees. In making their endorsements of individual candidates, the Trustees consider a set of criteria that includes bill sponsorships, voting records, and support for state and local economic growth initiatives.
While NEW JOBS is an independent political action committee, it is affiliated
with the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, Chamber
of Commerce Southern New Jersey, Atlantic County Chamber of
Commerce, Morris County Chamber of Commerce, Meadowlands Regional
Chamber of Commerce and other regional
business groups.
To move its probusiness agenda forward, the business community must have allies in the New Jersey State Legislature. Labor unions and environmental lobbies are working hard to reverse the legislative gains employers have achieved in the past. The extremist union and environmental groups are moving an aggressive agenda that could have a disastrous impact on our ability to do business in New Jersey.
It is imperative, therefore, that New Jersey employers show their collective strength by supporting friends of business on both sides of the political aisle.
NEW JOBS encourages employers to get involved in shaping New Jersey's economic future by contributing to NEW JOBS and to its endorsed candidates. Throughout the year, NEW JOBS holds fund-raising events to support and honor these candidates, including the annual Night at the Meadowlands in September, the South Jersey Legislative Reception at the Mansion in Voorhees, and other regional events.
